Why Aftercare Matters
Proper aftercare after laser hair removal helps ensure the best possible results while minimizing any temporary side effects. The laser creates controlled micro-injuries to hair follicles, and your skin needs time to heal and respond.
At Aroma Clinic, we provide detailed aftercare instructions after each session. Most side effects are mild and temporary, but following these guidelines helps your skin recover optimally.
Remember: everyone's skin responds differently. What works for one person may not be exactly right for another. Always follow your practitioner's specific recommendations.

Immediate Aftercare (First 24-48 Hours)
Focus on comfort and preventing irritation during the first day or two:
❄️ Cooling & Comfort
- • Apply cold packs wrapped in a cloth for 10-15 minutes every 1-2 hours
- • Use chilled aloe vera gel (pure, fragrance-free) if recommended
- • Avoid ice directly on skin to prevent frostbite
- • Over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream may help with itching (if approved)
🚿 Gentle Cleansing
- • Shower with lukewarm (not hot) water
- • Use mild, fragrance-free soap or just water
- • Pat dry gently, don't rub or scrub
- • Avoid loofahs, washcloths, or exfoliating products
👕 Clothing & Protection
- • Wear loose, breathable clothing
- • Avoid tight clothing that rubs the treated area
- • Cotton underwear is ideal for sensitive areas
- • Change into clean clothes after sweating
Sun Protection (Most Critical)
Sun exposure is the biggest risk factor for complications after laser treatment:
❌ Avoid These for the following 10 days of the service
- • Direct sunlight, especially between 10 AM - 4 PM
- • Tanning beds, sun lamps, or spray tanning
- • Outdoor activities without protection
✅ Sun Protection Guidelines
- • Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily to treated areas
- • Reapply every 2 hours when outdoors
- • Wear protective clothing (long sleeves, hats)
- • Seek shade whenever possible
- • Continue sun protection between sessions
Why: Treated skin is more sensitive to UV damage, which can cause pigmentation changes, burns, or interfere with results.
Activities to Avoid or Modify
Give your skin time to heal by avoiding irritants:
Heat & Sweat (day of service)
- • Strenuous exercise or workouts
- • Saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs
- • Hot showers or baths
- • Activities causing heavy sweating
Irritants (3-5 Days)
- • Harsh soaps or cleansers
- • Fragranced lotions or products
- • Chemical peels or exfoliants
- • Waxing, depilatory creams
Mechanical Irritation (2 Days)
- • Tight clothing or rough fabrics
- • Scratching or picking at skin
- • Razors or hair removal tools
- • Massages over treated areas
Hair Shedding Timeline
Understanding when and how hair falls out helps manage expectations:
Days 1-3: Initial Reaction
Skin may experience mild redness and sensitivity, this is completely normal and a sign your skin is responding to treatment.
Days 5-7: Early Shedding
Some hairs begin to loosen. You may notice hairs falling out when showering or touching the area.
Days 10-14: Peak Shedding
Most treated hairs fall out. This is the most noticeable shedding period. Don't pick or pull hairs.
Days 14-21: Continued Process
Remaining hairs continue to shed.
Important: Don't pick, tweeze, or wax hairs during shedding. Let them fall out naturally to avoid irritation or incomplete treatment.
