Facial hair needs more careful treatment planning

Face Laser Hair Removal in Toronto

Facial laser works best on suitable pigmented hair with enough thickness for the laser to target. Hormonal growth, PCOS and fine facial hair need a more cautious plan than many body areas.

Facial laser is best for darker, more noticeable hair, not every fine facial hair

Hair colour and thickness matter as much as skin tone. A free consultation helps determine which hairs are good laser targets and which should be left untreated.

Facial laser can reduce suitable unwanted hair on areas such as the upper lip, chin, cheeks, sideburns, neck, ears and beard line. Facial growth may be genetic, hormonal or related to PCOS.

Very light blonde, white, grey or red hair may not respond reliably. Fine peach-fuzz hair also requires caution because the likely benefit may be low.

Aroma checks the current hair pattern, pigment and thickness before recommending an area or package. We may recommend against laser when the hair is not a suitable target.

Hormones, fine hair and facial location change the plan

Hormonal hair can be persistent

Laser may reduce suitable facial hair, but it does not treat the hormonal cause. PCOS-related growth may require additional sessions and earlier maintenance.

Fine hair may not be a good target

Laser works by targeting pigment in suitable hair. Very fine or light facial hair may respond poorly, even when it is visible.

More hair can occasionally be stimulated

In uncommon cases, facial or neck laser can stimulate additional growth. Aroma assesses borderline hair carefully and may advise against treatment.

A package should not be recommended simply because hair is present. The hair must have enough pigment and thickness to be a reasonable laser target.

Consultation and mandatory test patch come first

1

Map the exact area

We confirm whether the booking is for one small facial area, beard sculpting, one neck area or broader Full Face coverage.

2

Assess skin and hair

Current skin tone, tanning, Fitzpatrick type, hair colour, thickness, hormones, medication, tattoos, moles and previous reactions are reviewed.

3

Complete the test patch

Every new client receives a mandatory test patch. The wait before a full treatment is decided case by case.

4

Recheck every visit

Current skin colour, recent tanning, irritation, medication changes and treatment response are checked before every session.

Protect facial skin before and after laser

Prepare the hair correctly

Shave or carefully trim suitable hair about 24 hours before. Stop waxing, sugaring, tweezing, threading, epilating and depilatory cream for 4 weeks.

Pause irritating products

Stop retinol and exfoliating acids 3 to 5 days before unless your practitioner gives different instructions. Arrive makeup-free and product-free.

Be strict about sun exposure

Avoid sun, tanning beds and self-tanner for 2 weeks. Protect treated facial skin from the sun after treatment.

For 24 to 48 hours after treatment, avoid strong heat, heavy exercise, excessive sweating, scrubs, swimming and chlorine. Treated hairs may shed over roughly 7 to 21 days.

Facial laser is usually scheduled every 4 weeks

Initial series

Many clients begin with about 6 to 7 sessions. Hormonal facial hair may need additional treatments.

Four-week spacing

Facial areas are usually scheduled around every 4 weeks, with timing adjusted according to regrowth and response.

Hormonal maintenance

Hormonal areas may need maintenance as early as every 6 to 12 months. Book a consultation when approximately 20% to 30% of treatable hair has returned.

Facial laser at two Toronto locations

Both clinics assess Fitzpatrick skin types I through VI, subject to suitability. Aroma does not rank one laser system as better than the other.
