What to know before you come in
Threading Preparation & Aftercare
Threading is generally a low-prep service, but a few things help ensure the best result and most comfortable experience.
Before your threading appointment
Arrive with clean skin, free of heavy makeup, sunscreen, or thick moisturiser near the area to be threaded. If you use retinol, acids, acne creams, prescription skincare, or have had a recent facial peel, please let your technician know before the service begins. Some products increase skin sensitivity and may affect how the threading feels or how the skin responds afterward.
After threading, what to expect
Some redness and mild sensitivity around the threaded area is normal and typically fades within a few hours. Avoid applying heavy creams, makeup, or active skincare immediately after threading. Stay out of direct sun exposure or tanning for 24 hours after the service. Results typically last 3 to 4 weeks, depending on your hair growth cycle.
Threading vs waxing for facial hair
Both threading and waxing remove facial hair at the follicle and produce clean results. Threading involves no products touching the skin, which some clients prefer if they have very reactive skin or certain skincare sensitivities. Waxing and sugaring are available at all three Aroma locations; threading is currently available at Yonge & Davisville / Midtown only.
How often to come back
Most threading clients return every 3 to 4 weeks for brow maintenance. If you like to keep your brows very defined, you may want to return closer to every 2 to 3 weeks. For upper lip, chin, and cheeks, the frequency depends on your personal hair growth rate.
