Bikini bumps and Brazilian-area ingrowns
The bikini and Brazilian areas are common trouble spots because of coarse hair, underwear friction, sweat, workouts, and shaving history.
Ingrowns happen when hair breaks instead of coming out cleanly. If wax is applied against the growth instead of with it, the hair breaks and grows back in. Shaving between waxes also makes the hair coarser, which can cause more ingrowns and sensitivity.
If you're getting ingrowns, we suggest Bushbalm exfoliating products, an exfoliating brush, or even laser hair removal if the case is extreme.
The biggest mistake is picking your ingrowns, this causes discolouration and pigmentation. Leave them alone and let gentle exfoliation do the work.
Ingrown hairs happen when hair grows back into the skin or gets trapped under the surface. They can show up as small bumps, redness, tenderness, dark marks, or rough texture. Common areas include the bikini line, Brazilian area, underarms, legs, inner thighs, chest, stomach, and beard line.
Waxing removes hair from the root, so some clients find it easier than frequent shaving. That said, waxing is not a magic eraser for ingrown hairs. Hair type, clothing friction, sweat, exfoliation habits, skin sensitivity, and aftercare all affect whether bumps improve or keep coming back.
At Aroma, waxing for ingrown-hair-prone clients is handled area by area. The goal is to choose the right service, avoid waxing over irritated skin, and follow a routine that helps the skin stay calmer.

Not every bump should be waxed. The technician needs to know what is active, what is healing, and what is just rough regrowth.
The bikini and Brazilian areas are common trouble spots because of coarse hair, underwear friction, sweat, workouts, and shaving history.
Underarms can react from shaving, deodorant, sweat, and friction. Waxing may help some clients reduce frequent shaving, but aftercare matters.
Legs and inner thighs can develop trapped hairs from shaving, tight clothing, dry skin, or inconsistent exfoliation.
Waxing should not be performed over open, infected, swollen, or very painful bumps. Ask first or wait until the area calms.
These are common areas clients ask about when they want waxing because shaving keeps causing bumps.
Coarse hair, friction, and shaving history make this one of the most common ingrown-hair areas. Avoid tight clothing and workouts right after waxing.
Underarms need simple aftercare. Avoid deodorant, heavy sweating, and heat shortly after waxing when the skin is freshly treated.
Dry skin, clothing friction, and shaving habits can contribute to rough texture or trapped hairs. Gentle routine care matters.
Dense or curly body hair can trap more easily, especially where clothing rubs or sweat builds up.
Choose the waxing service area that matches where you need support.
Tell the technician if bumps are painful, open, swollen, infected, bleeding, or recently picked. Waxing should not be done over broken or irritated skin.
For your first wax, trim the hair down to at least a quarter of an inch, about the same length as a grain of rice, no shorter, because anything shorter we won't be able to remove.
Gentle exfoliation can help some routines, but aggressive scrubbing right before waxing can make skin more reactive.
Keep the area calm at first. Start light exfoliation 24 hours after your wax, and never pick ingrowns because that can cause discolouration and pigmentation.
Book the waxing area you need, and follow the prep and aftercare guidance for that area.
