Hard Wax vs Aroma’s Cream Based Wax in Toronto

Most clients do not need to choose the wax themselves. Aroma uses hard wax and our custom Toronto-made cream based wax depending on the area, hair texture, and skin sensitivity. This guide explains how the right wax and technique support a cleaner, more comfortable service.

Toronto-made cream based wax, Canadian-made essentials

Aroma uses a custom Toronto-made cream-based wax, a combination of hard and soft wax with no added colours or perfumes, made for sensitive skin types. Together with Canadian wooden sticks and Canadian-made examination paper, it’s one way we support local suppliers while keeping your appointments clean, consistent, and gentle on the skin.

What is the difference between hard wax and Aroma’s cream based wax?

Hard wax is a cooler wax that doesn’t attach to the skin, only to the hair. We use it on body parts like the ears and nose because it doesn’t attach to the membrane or the skin, only to the hair.

Our cream-based wax is a combination of hard and soft wax, with no colours and no perfumes. It’s made for sensitive skin types, and we’re able to heat it at a much lower temperature than other waxes. It attaches to all hairs, long, short, thin, thick, for a much cleaner wax. We use it on larger body areas because we can spread it across bigger sections for easy hair removal.

Choosing the right wax for the right body part matters because anywhere with a membrane, like the ears and nose, the membrane and skin should never be lifted. Larger body parts need a wax that’s easily applied and easily removed. When the wrong wax is used on a sensitive area, it can lift a layer of the skin and cause sensitivity.

How hard wax and cream based wax are different

This is a practical guide, not a client homework sheet. Your technician still chooses based on your skin, hair, and service area.

Hard wax

Hard wax sets on the hair and is removed without a strip. We use it on areas with a membrane, the inside of the ear and the inside of the nose, because it only attaches itself to the hair, not to the membrane or the skin. That’s what keeps these small, delicate areas safe.

Aroma cream based wax

What makes Aroma’s cream wax special is that it’s a combination of hard and soft wax, made for sensitive skin types. There are no added colours and no added scents, which is great for clients with any skin sensitivities. We use the same cream-based wax on most parts of the body at Aroma because it does a clean, efficient job of removing all hair types, long, short, thin, thick.

Technique matters

Our wax technique is different from most others because of how we apply and remove. The direction of hair growth matters. If we apply against it instead of with it, we’ll break the hair, which causes ingrowns. Stretching the skin is important to avoid bruising and tearing, and it also numbs the area, making for easy wax removal. Some clients say Aroma waxing sessions feel a lot less painful because of our technique and the pressure we apply after each service.

Why one wax is not used the same way everywhere

Brazilian wax, eyebrow wax, leg wax, and back wax are different jobs. Same clinic, different mission.

Brazilian and bikini

Intimate waxing is done with our Aroma cream-based wax because it does a clean, efficient job on all hair types, long, short, thin, thick. When someone has very coarse hair, instead of applying larger sections we work in smaller ones and press on the area afterwards. That ensures easy hair removal with a lot less sensitivity.

Face and eyebrows

Facial waxing needs the right wax for the right area. When the wrong wax is used on a sensitive area, it can lift a layer of the skin and cause sensitivity. For sensitive skin, we apply a cooler wax to ensure there is no redness or irritation.

Underarms

Underarms are an area where technique really shows. When someone has very coarse hair, we work in smaller sections and press on the area after each pull. That, plus the pressure we apply after each service, is why clients say Aroma waxing feels a lot less painful than other places.

Legs, arms, back, chest

Larger areas need steady coverage, clean removal, and good pacing. The technician chooses the approach that fits the area and growth pattern.

Area, hair, skin, and comfort all matter

1

Look at the body area

Small, curved, sensitive, and large flat areas may call for different wax choices and removal techniques.

2

Consider the hair type

Fine hair, coarse hair, dense growth, short regrowth, and patchy regrowth can all affect the best approach.

3

Check skin sensitivity

Reactive skin, recent exfoliation, retinol use, sun exposure, or irritation can change what is appropriate that day.

4

Use the right technique

The product matters, but technique matters too. Good waxing is not just wax in a pot. It is timing, pressure, direction, and skin support.

Why we created our own wax

“I chose this custom wax because I saw there was a need to create something for all skin types. I was trying to solve the problem of skin sensitivities, some people have sensitivities to colours or perfumes. I wanted to create something with neither of those things, and something we could heat at a much lower temperature to avoid any burns.” Mary, Aroma founder

Wax type is not a separate price

You pay for the waxing area you book. Hard wax or Aroma cream based wax selection is part of the professional service approach, not a separate menu item.

Small-area waxing

Face, brow, upper lip, chin, sideburns, nose, ear, and underarm pricing lives on the service and pricing pages.

Intimate waxing

Brazilian and bikini waxing have dedicated pages because coverage, comfort, and prep matter more than a wax-type label.

Body waxing

Legs, arms, back, chest, stomach, and full body pricing depends on the area booked, not the wax option chosen by the technician.

Choose your Aroma waxing clinic

Wax type is not a separate priced service. Choose the waxing area you need, and your technician will use the approach that makes sense for the service, hair type, skin sensitivity, and body area.
